SUPER DAY in Casablanca for the Men’s Bocce team as Australia thumps Turkey & Russia in its first round games with 2 strong wins.
Following on from a favorable draw in which Australia landed in pools in which it would be considered favorites, the days competition did not disappoint as Australia tastes success with good performances in all disciplines.
The stage is now set for Australia to shine and at minimum should make the top 8 and with a bit of good play, luck of the roll and smart tactics, maybe – just maaaybeeee, make plus more J
Australian tasted success at the start of day with victory at draw, as it drew in the Doubles – Burkina Fase, Turkey & Netherlands. In the Singles – Hungary, Russia & Morocco. And in the BowlThrow – USA, Estonia & Spain. All of which are doable. Australia is now set for a fantastic road forward to qualify to the next round.
DAY ONE RESULTS
The Doubles of Santo Pascuzzi & Daniel Samsa team set the pace for the day in that the first game of the day struck success by convincingly beating Turkey 13 to 4. This was quickly followed in the Singles with Santo Pascuzzi beating Russia 13 to 5.
In the Double Rapid Throw Australia scored a strong qualifying score of 38 making it in to the qualifying round of top 16 teams. In the Rapid Throw two countries set world records for their respective region/nation – Turkey with a score of 47 & Chile with a score of 45. Top of the 16, is Croatia with a commanding score of 57.
A narrow loss in the Bowl Throw by Daniel Samsa to USA (Michael Luna) was the only down turn for the day.
Overall Team Australia had a good start to what promises to be another opportunistic championship for Australia.
So after a day of anxious anticipation for the first roll of the day – Australia is poised in a good position & ready to continue into day 2.
