Giuseppe was born in 1934 in Sant’Eufemia d’Aspromonte, Italy. In 1955 Giuseppe migrated to Australia with his brother. Their father was already living in Australia. The father then returned to Italy and another brother came to Australia.

Giuseppe worked at Chrysler, Mile End and then at Holden until retirement. Giuseppe had not played bocce in Italy and after five years in Australia started playing at a private residence on Marion Road where there were two courts. Giuseppe was invited to join the Federation by Maria Ferraro. Maria was Singles National Bocce Champion twice. Giuseppe accompanied the State team to the Nationals several times as a spectator but never competed.

Giuseppe married in 1971 and has three children. Sadly, Giuseppe’s wife passed away in 1989. His interest in bocce never waned. After retiring, Giuseppe continued playing bocce at various clubs.

At the age of ninety- one, Giuseppe lives alone with little help. Every fortnight he cooks for the family. Giuseppe enjoys playing bocce, cards, socialising and having a drink. Giuseppe participates in all the competitions, and several times has been in the winner’s circle. He causes his bocce colleagues to be alert! Giuseppe, you are a true living legend!!
